Position Summary

The Cooks prepare meals for guests onboard the Wilderness Express railcars.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include but are limited to:

  • Prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner for up to 240 guests per day
  • Ensures that food quality and presentation are consistent per company standards
  • Conducts inventories and places orders for supplies to be stocked onboard according to guest counts
  • Washes all dishware and cooking utensils
  • Assists in dining room when possible
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates for the Cook position must meet the following criteria in order to be considered as an applicant:

  • Be 18 years of age prior to beginning work
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Have line cook experience
  • Possess a current Alaska Food Worker card. (Training will be provided)
  • Be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Be a U.S. citizen or show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work a full season
  • Able to work as a team in close quarters with 5 other crewmembers
 
 
 
 
 
 
Training Timeline:

Once hired, RCT will provide you with a thorough training program starting in May.

Wages:

First year Cook $12.00/hour

Overtime wages are paid at 1 1/2 times the regular rate of pay for the hours in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Bonus:

Upon successful completion of the assignment, you will be eligible for a Longevity Bonus calculated at 10% of your gross wages (regular and overtime) earned during this assignment. 

Benefits:

If hired prior to July 1st, and upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be eligible for a cruise on Royal Caribbean International or Celebrity Cruises at a highly discounted employee rate.
