Prep Cook


Position Summary

The Prep Cook prepares food in the kitchen in Anchorage to be stocked aboard the Wilderness Express railcars. This role is also responsible for receiving deliveries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepares food for the railcars according to standardized recipes
  • Maintains par levels of prepped and non-prepped items
  • Receives daily deliveries
  • Ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of the prep kitchen
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates for the Prep Cook position must meet the following criteria in order to be considered as an applicant:

  • Be 18 years of age prior to beginning work
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Have experience and a thorough knowledge of food preparation techniques
  • Possess a current Food Manager certification (training will be provided)
  • Be able to travel onboard railcars and overnight in Fairbanks when needed
  • Be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Be a U.S. citizen or show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Be able to work a full season
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision
 
 
 
 
 
Training Timeline:

Once hired, RCT will provide you with a thorough training program starting in May.

Wages:

First year Prep Cooks $12.00/hour

Overtime wages are paid at 1 1/2 times the regular rate of pay for the hours in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Bonus:

Upon successful completion of the assignment, you will be eligible for a Longevity Bonus calculated at 10% of your gross wages (regular and overtime) earned during this assignment. 

Benefits:

If hired prior to July 1st, and upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be eligible for a cruise on Royal Caribbean International or Celebrity Cruises at a highly discounted employee rate.
