Prep Cook
The role of the Prep Cook is to provide consistent, high quality, food and beverage items to the railcar galleys. This position is located in the Anchorage Rail Office.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparing food for the railcars according to standardized recipes
Maintaining par levels of prepped and non-prepped items in the rail kitchen and storage area
Ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the prep kitchen
Completing daily paperwork and inventory
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the Prep Cook position must meet the following criteria in order to be considered as an applicant:
Be 18 years of age prior to May 1, 2008
Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Have experience and a thorough knowledge of food preparation techniques
Possess a current Food Manager certification (training will be provided)
Be able to travel onboard railcars and overnight in Fairbanks when needed
Be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug test
Be a U.S. citizen or show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
Be able to work a full season (mid-May to mid-September.)
Be able to work with minimum supervision
Training Timeline
Once hired, all candidates will receive a thorough training program starting in May.
Housing
Employees are responsible for their own housing. If traveling on board the train, RCT will provide dorm style, company housing in Fairbanks. Out-of-state employees are responsible for providing their own transportation to Alaska and housing while in Anchorage.
Wages & Bonuses
First year Prep Cooks $12.00/hour
Employees will be eligible for a bonus of 10% of gross wages upon completion of their contract.
Typically the work schedule is five days a week, approximately 35 - 40 hours per week.
Benefits
After successful completion of a full season contract RCT employees are eligible for a cruise of up to 14 days on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruise Lines at a highly discounted employee rate.
