Pier Luggage Coordinator


Position Summary

The role of a Pier Luggage Coordinator is to coordinate all motorcoach and luggage truck arrivals and departures at the Seward ship terminal during cruise ship disembarkation and embarkation. A Pier Luggage Coordinator resolves guest service issues with regards to transfers between Seward and Anchorage. They are the liaison between ship personnel, pier security staff, and terminal staff in order to make certain that luggage is loaded onto the appropriate vehicle and delivered to the proper destination. THIS IS A ONE DAY A WEEK POSITION.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of a Pier Luggage Coordinator include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise luggage offload from the cruise ship using proper manifests
  • Track and correct untagged or miss-sorted bags using guest manifest from the ship
  • Coordinate guest disembarkation call off with ship personnel, pier and terminal staff, including but not limited to answering guest questions and locating missing tour guests
  • Records timing and issues pertaining to luggage offload and completes weekly luggage report
  • Direct all traffic including guests, staff and forklifts on the pier during embarkation
  • Monitors the actions of drivers, tour directors and pier staff while in a secured area on the dock
  • Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:

The Pier Luggage Coordinator must meet the following criteria in order to be considered as an applicant:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or able to provide verification of authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Have a current TWIC card or be willing to apply for one
  • Be able to work in a team environment with other company employees, shipboard personnel and terminal security staff
  • Have excellent guest service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Able to respond to and provide solutions to common inquiries or complaints from guestS
  • Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions as well as stand for extended periods of time
Training Timeline:
Once hired, RCT will provide you with a thorough training program via classroom and on-the-job training.
 
Wages:
First year Pier Luggage Coordinator - $13.00/hr

Overtime wages are paid at 1 1/2 times the regular rate of pay for the hours in excess of 8 hours per day.

Bonus:
Upon successful completion of the assignment, you will be eligible for a Longevity Bonus calculated at 10% of your gross wages (regular and overtime) earned during this assignment. 
 
Benefits:
