Onboard Food Server
The role of the Onboard Food Server is to work aboard the Wilderness Express providing quality service to our guests in a fun and semi-formal atmosphere.

Primary responsibilities of the Onboard Food Server include but are not limited to:

  • Providing professional breakfast, lunch and dinner service for up to 240 guests per day
  • Preparing the dining room for meal service
  • Being comfortable making a menu presentation over a microphone in front of up to 80 guests
  • Conducting inventories and placing orders for dining room supplies
  • Serving food and beverages in a busy, confined and constantly moving atmosphere
  • Assisting cooks in the kitchen whenever possible

    Minimum Qualifications
    Candidates for the Onboard Food Server position must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Be 21 years of age prior to May 1, 2008
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
  • Possess a current ServSafe/Alaska Food Worker certificate (Training will be provided)
  • Possess a current TAMs card (Training will be provided)
  • Be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Be a U.S. citizen or show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work a full season (mid-May to mid-September.)
  • Able to work as a team in close quarters with 5 other crewmembers

    Training Timeline
    Once hired, all candidates will participate in a thorough training program starting in May.
     
    Housing
    Employees are responsible for their own housing while not on tour. While on duty RCT will provide dorm style, company housing in Fairbanks. Out-of-state employees are responsible for providing their own transportation to Alaska and housing while in Anchorage.
     
    Wages & Bonuses
    First year Onboard Food Server $7.15/hour + gratuities

    Employees will be eligible for a bonus of 10% of gross wages upon completion of their contract.

    Typically Onboard Food Servers work four consecutive 15-hour days per week for four weeks. Schedule permitting, they will have the fifth week in the rotation off. Opportunities to pick up shifts will arise. Onboard Servers are expected to be flexible and willing to assist in covering shifts. Several times throughout the season they will work the Anchorage to Seward train which will be an 18 hour work day.

     
    Benefits
    After successful completion of a full season contract RCT employees are eligible for a cruise of up to 14 days on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruise Lines at a highly discounted employee rate.
