Fairbanks Rail Mechanic
The role of the Fairbanks Rail Mechanic is to perform preventative and routine maintenance on the railcars to ensure safe operation. This position is located in Fairbanks.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist with all maintenance and mechanical tasks
Conduct daily railcar inspections
Perform routine maintenance checks and tasks
Work independently and as part of a team
Complete daily paperwork and maintenance records
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the Fairbanks Rail Mechanic position must meet the following criteria in order to be considered as an applicant:
Be 18 years of age prior to May 1, 2008
Able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs
Have basic tools
Willing to submit to a pre-employment drug test and background check
Have one year of maintenance and/or mechanical related experience
Be a U.S. citizen or show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
Able to work a full season (mid-May to mid-September)
Able to work with minimum supervision
Training Timeline
Once hired, all candidates will receive a thorough training program starting in May.
Housing
Employees are responsible for their own housing. Out-of-state employees are responsible for providing their own transportation to Alaska.
Wages & Bonuses
First year Fairbanks Rail Mechanic $18.00/hr DOE
Employees will be eligible for a bonus of 10% of gross wages, upon completion of their contract.
The work schedule is approximately 35-40 hours per week.
Benefits
After successful completion of a full season contract, RCT employees are eligible for a cruise of up to 14 days on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruise Lines at a highly discounted employee rate.
